Study programme of the European master's Earth and Environment

Study environmental processes from multiple scientific perspectives, with Wageningen’s focus on in-depth understanding of natural processes, both within, and between various parts of the Earth System.

This two-year programme (120 EC) is structured around two phases. During the first year, you study at your ‘home’ university, while in the second year you move to your ‘host’ university. Depending on the specialisation you aspire, multiple combinations of home and host university are possible. Here we focus on the situation that Wageningen University is your home university.

First Year - Home University

You start with the shared online course “Environmental Management in Europe” in which you collaborate with EnvEuro students across Europe. Further compulsory courses are a course in Environmental Data Collection and Analysis, and the Academic Master Cluster in which you work in an interdisciplinary team on a project from an external commissioner.

The other half of your first year, you take courses that are related to your chosen specialisation. In this you have ample freedom of choice.

Second Year - Host University

Your second year at a partner university deepens your expertise through advanced courses in your specialisation. You will complete your studies with a Master’s thesis (30 EC) with joint supervision from your home and host university.

Wageningen University also welcomes students from partner universities as their host institution for the second year of study.
