English language proficiency MSc

The medium of instruction of all master programmes at Wageningen University & Research is the English language.

Applications that do not meet the English proficiency requirements will be put on a hold and will not be viewed by the admission board(s). Unless you can be exempted, we need one of the following results as evidence of your English proficiency:

Please note that the IELTS and TOEFL tests should be taken no longer than 24 months prior to the day of your application.

TOEFL test

Please note that only the TOEFL IBT variant of this test is accepted.

This test is administered several times a month. In the Netherlands the test centers are in Amsterdam, Arnhem, Lelystad and Velp. Applicants who upload their TOEFL score in our application portal should be aware that they need to share their results with institutional code 0542 (Wageningen University & Research) via the TOEFL website. Applications with TOEFL results that are not shared with us, will be delayed as a consequence. More information and registration.

This test is administered several times per month. The test center for the Netherlands is in Amsterdam. Please note that only the IELTS academic variant of this test is accepted. More information and registration.

Cambridge exams (CAE, FCE and CPE)

There are 14 test centres troughout the Netherlands. Please note that we only accept the CAE, CPE and FCE variants of the Cambridge tests. More information and registration.

The RATEr is a diagnostic test of academic English, the test can be taken at Wageningen in’to Languages.
