Content and structure

This course consists of two three-hour meetings and provides you with the tools you need to tell a strong story. 

Session 1: why storytelling, the first step to a good story 

In this session you will learn: 

  • The definition of storytelling and its importance in communication
  • Examples of effective storytelling in different contexts, such as research, business, education, marketing
  • How stories can evoke emotions and inspire
  • The core components of a story: characters, conflict, climax
  • How to integrate facts and research findings into a story

After the first session, you will write a short story of 500 words on a personal or work-related topic. 

Session 2: the building blocks of a good story 

In this session:

  • Feedback will be given on the submitted stories
  • You will learn what images can support your story
  • You will learn techniques for building an emotional connection with your audience
  • You will learn to use personal anecdotes and experiences to increase authenticity

After completing this course, you will be able to: 

  • Create compelling stories
  • Clarify complex topics and make them accessible
  • Connect with your audience on an emotional level
  • Give dynamic and compelling presentations
