Programme details
This interactive afternoon session, taking place from 12h30-17h30, offers a comprehensive overview of the practical implications of the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) and key challenges for businesses.
Following a brief introduction to the EMMA4EU programme, participants will explore key challenges around due diligence and traceability, including insights into technological solutions and the role of national authorities in enforcing EUDR obligations.
Next, the focus shifts to the private sector, with speakers sharing real-world experiences from the soy trade and feed industry, as well as reflections on the role of certification and independent verification schemes.
The final part of the programme invites participants to take part in a group discussion, exploring where support is most needed and how various actors, including government bodies, certifying schemes, and the scientific community, can contribute to effective implementation.
While the programme will focus primarily on the Dutch context, the main language of the event is English to ensure accessibility for non-Dutch-speaking professionals working in the Netherlands.
Throughout the afternoon, there will be ample opportunity to engage with peers and speakers, exchange ideas, and reflect on how to apply new insights in practice. We are pleased to welcome several external experts who will share their insights and practical experience, representing organisations such as CEFETRA Group BV, The Netherlands Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA) -- the EUDR competent authority -- and FSC Netherlands. The programme concludes with networking drinks, offering space for informal exchange and connection.
