Nalini's experience: from secondary school Spanish to debating and joking

“Hola! My name is Nalini and I learnt Spanish thanks to the classes of Sonia from In'to Languages. Ten years ago, I took Spanish in secondary school, which inspired my enthusiasm for the language. When I met my current Spanish boyfriend during my Master's programme in Wageningen, I felt it was time to go back to learning the language as well. A quick Google search revealed that In'to Languages offered several Spanish courses at an attractive student price, and after a short telephone intake interview, I was able to join immediately at the right level.”

Lots of laughter

“This led to me taking first Spanish 3 and later Spanish 4, both taught by Sonia. The classes were extremely well put together in terms of content, with different sections and a progression in grammar, but mostly I found the classes to be really fun. We were given lots of time to have conversations in Spanish with each other, often based on an assignment or topic. The cultural aspects of the language and country were also covered, and we broached current issues. Spanish 4 in particular helped me improve my conversation skills, thanks to the debate we had each week around a statement, for example on ‘La turismophobia’. There was lots of laughter, too, and Sonia's combination of enthusiasm and substantive feedback helped everyone to make considerable progress.”

Succesfully applied

“Fortunately, after the course, I was able to immediately apply the language in practice when I went with my boyfriend to visit his family in Spain during the holidays. I could easily follow the conversations at the dinner table, chatting along, asking questions, reading the menu and even making jokes! Unfortunately, I didn't succeed in the Spanish tradition of eating 12 grapes on New Year's Eve, so perhaps this could be added to the course ;-).

All in all, I am glad I had the opportunity to take these courses, and would definitely recommend them to anyone who wants to learn Spanish in an interactive way!”
