Language guidelines

More than 100 nationalities are represented at Wageningen University & Research (WUR). To promote effective communication and optimal cooperation, WUR has drawn up a set of guidelines for language use.
What do you need to do to take an English or Dutch course at your department’s expense?
Ask your manager for permission first
WUR employees and their partners are entitled to take a course that falls under the Guidelines for Language Use at the expenses of the department/knowledge unit where the employee works. This has been agreed with the general directors of the Sciences Groups. To make use of this scheme, you should always contact your supervisor first. They will tell you whether you are eligible and, if so, what steps you need to take.
Determine your language level
For English courses, you should always request an online OOPT first from into@wur.nl. The OOPT allows us to determine your current language level.
For Dutch courses, we will check which language level suits you best during an intake interview. You can schedule a telephone interview by sending your phone number to into@wur.nl. If you have no prior knowledge of Dutch at all, you can register for Basic Dutch 1 without an intake.
Register
If you have permission to take a course and know what your language level is, you can use this website to register for a course in English or Dutch.
Questions?
If course participants run into problems or are turned down, they can contact their HR department. If there are any remaining questions, the departments can contact their own management department.
