“I am now almost fluent in Spanish - and that is thanks in part to In'to Languages and Sonia's eternal support.”
Studying at a Spanish university had always been Viva's dream. When she got that opportunity, she decided to brush up on her Spanish at In'to Languages. This was followed by a successful minor in Madrid, yet another course at In'to, and a Master's internship in Peru! Read Viva's inspiring story here.
Minor in Spain
“My name is Viva, I am originally from Wageningen, and I started studying at WUR in 2020. First, I completed a Bachelor's in Business and Consumer Sciences, and now I am taking a Master's in Tourism, Society and Environment. I first came across In'to Languages in May 2023, when I heard that I could do a minor in Spain as part of my Bachelor's degree. Studying at a Spanish university had always been a dream of mine, and I wanted to prepare well by brushing up on my language skills. Especially when it turned out that I was going to take all the courses in Spanish!”
Passed all exams
“I decided to take a Spanish course at In'to and had an intake interview with teacher Sonia. I was super nervous about it, but she immediately put me at ease and enrolled me at a level that suited me. A WhatsApp group was created with the other students, so we could get acquainted with each other in advance. Every Tuesday evening we had Spanish class, which was a mix of listening skills practice, speaking, reading, and doing assignments. At the end of the class, we would hold a debate, in which the group would split into two and have fun discussing an interesting proposition in Spanish.
The course lasted eight weeks, but I kept in touch with Sonia long after. Even though it was now from a distance, I could always contact her if I had any questions. With my much-improved Spanish, I continued my journey to Madrid in 2024, where I took (and passed!) all the exams in Spanish at the end of my minor. Sonia, of course, was one of the first people I told and that was a very nice moment.”
Spanish as a guiding thread
“Once I returned to Wageningen after my time in Spain, I decided to take another Spanish course at In'to Languages. You never stop learning and it seemed like a good way to keep practising the language. Sonia always brought a fun atmosphere to class, and even after a long day at the University, we were motivated to learn with the group.
Learning Spanish has been a guiding thread for me throughout my studies, and it has paid off. In addition to being able to build a life for myself in Spain, this year, in 2025, I got the chance to go to South America for my Master's internship. I currently live in Peru, where my day-to-day interactions are all in Spanish, and Spanish is also the language at the company where I am currently interning. I am now almost fluent in Spanish – and that is partly thanks to my fun and enjoyable experiences at In'to Languages and the eternal support of Sonia, with whom I am still in regular contact.
I can only recommend that you take a course at In'to Languages, in any language. Not to mention that theirs are by far the most financially advantageous language courses you can take as a student, which is also great for your wallet!”
