After your admission (master's)
You have been admitted to one of the master’s programmes at Wageningen University & Research. Congratulations! To complete your enrolment and start your studies in Wageningen, there are a few important steps to follow. Below, you will find all the key information you need.
Steps towards enrolment for Dutch nationals
All Dutch students must arrange their tuition fee payment through Studielink. From 1 May, a task will appear in your Studielink To Do list. There, you must:
• Set up your digital authorisation (direct debit).
• Choose to pay in five instalments (additional €24 administration fee) or one payment (no additional fee)
Deadline: Complete this by 15 August when starting your MSc in September or by 15 January when starting in February. We recommend doing this as early as possible. Once you submit your digital authorisation, you have met your payment obligation, even though the tuition fee will only be collected on 25 September or 25 February.
Enrolment and WUR Account: As soon as you meet all other enrolment requirements, you will be officially enrolled and receive access to your WUR account (available from 1 July).
Cancelling Your Enrolment: If you withdraw your enrolment (or enrolment request) before 1 September when starting your MSc in September or before 1 February when starting in February, your digital authorisation will be cancelled automatically.
Proof of Payment: If you want to submit a Proof of Payment of Tuition Fees (BBC) from another Dutch university or university of applied sciences, please contact the Student Service Centre.
For more information about the tuition fee, please visit Tuition fees and study finances master’s.
If you completed your previous education in the Netherlands, your qualification will be verified automatically through Studielink. This automated verification should be completed before the enrolment deadline.
Once you have graduated, please check in Studielink whether your previous education has been verified. Please note that this process can take a few weeks after your graduation date.
If your qualification has not been verified two weeks before the enrolment deadline, please ask your previous educational institution to send the following documents directly to ssc@wur.nl:
- A Proof of Graduation
- Your final transcript of records
These documents must be received before the applicable deadline:
- September intake: no later than 31 August (your graduation date must be before 1 September)
- February intake: no later than 31 January (your graduation date must be before 1 February)
As an alternative, you may submit these documents in person at the student desk or send them by post to:
Wageningen University & Research

Admissions office
Droevendaalsesteeg 2
6708 PB Wageningen
The Netherlands

What is a certified copy?
A certified copy is an official copy of an original document. It must include:
- An original stamp or seal; and
- An original signature from the institution that issued the document.
Please note
- A normal photocopy of a certified copy is not considered certified and will not be accepted.

Important
Documents submitted for enrolment become part of the university's administrative records and will not be returned. Please do not send your original diploma or transcript unless specifically requested.
Steps towards enrolment for Non-EU/Non-EFTA nationals
From March onwards all non-European and non-EFTA students admitted to a MSc programme will receive an email with the subject line: “Towards enrolment: Payment details – Wageningen University”. If you cannot find this email in your inbox, please check your spam or junk mail folder. This email contains important information regarding the so-called ‘Payment First Year Process’.
If you currently live in an EU country and hold a valid residence permit there, please upload a copy of this permit during the Payment First Year Process. This information is needed to determine the tuition fee that applies to you.
If your nationality is included on the sanctions list, you must first complete and upload the International Sanctions Financial Identification Form as part of the same process.
You must complete the Payment First Year Process and upload all required documents no later than the 1 June deadline when starting your MSc in September or 1 December when starting in February.
After you have completed this process, you will receive your first-year invoice and/or have the option to upload a scholarship award letter.
The 1 July / 1 December deadline applies to either:
- pay the full first-year invoice to the Wageningen University bank account; and/or
- submit a scholarship award letter that has been approved by the university
Sponsorships and Scholarships
If a sponsor or scholarship will pay for your studies, please let us know before the payment deadline.
- If you have a sponsor, WUR will contact the sponsor directly to arrange the payment.
- If you have a scholarship, you must submit your official scholarship award letter before the payment deadline.
- WUR will review the scholarship letter to determine whether it can be accepted as a payment guarantee.
- If approved, WUR will invoice the scholarship provider directly. If the scholarship does not cover all costs, you will receive an invoice for the remaining amount.
Important
The first-year invoice is approximately €40,000 and includes tuition fees, living expenses allowance, health insurance and residence permit costs.
For more information about the tuition fee, please visit Tuition fees and study finances master’s. An overview of available scholarships can be found on our Master's scholarships page.

Please note that you can only apply for these documents through CSSD after you have officially graduated.
After obtaining the documents, please ask CSSD to send them directly to ssc@wur.nl.
We require the following documents:
- Online Verification Report of Higher Education Qualification Certificate
- Verification Report of China Higher Education Student's Academic Transcript
Please make sure we receive these documents before the applicable deadline:

After you have paid your tuition fees and the Admissions Office has received and approved all documents confirming that you meet the admission requirements, the Student Immigration Office (SIO) will start your entry visa and residence permit application.
You will receive an email with a link to the Osiris portal. In Osiris, you must complete a questionnaire and upload the required documents, including:
- A copy of your passport
- A completed Antecedents Certificate
If all information and documents are complete and correct, the SIO will begin your visa and residence permit application, usually around the end of May (September start) or the end of October (February start).
Passport Requirements
A valid passport is required for your visa application. The passport scan you upload in Osiris must clearly show:
- Your personal details
- Your signature
- Your passport number
- The date of issue and expiry date
Your passport must be valid for at least six months after the start of your study programme. However, we strongly recommend that it remains valid for at least four months after your studies end.
If you have previously visited the Netherlands, please also include the passport page showing the Dutch exit stamp you received when leaving the country.
More information about the visa and residence permit application process can be found on our visa and immigration page.

What else you need to arrange
After submitting your enrolment request via Studielink, you can apply for student finance with DUO.
The costs of studying in the Netherlands involve more than just tuition fees. Learn more about living expenses, insurance, and residence permit on the Study expenses master's page.
Wageningen University has a large and vibrant student community, but finding a room in or near Wageningen can sometimes be challenging. The earlier you start looking, the better your chances. Most students rent a room through Idealis, the main student housing organization in Wageningen. However, you can also choose to search for housing independently through other channels.
As a prospective student at Wageningen University you can register and apply for a room at Idealis via ROOM.nl. You may receive priority housing if your home address is more than 130 km from Wageningen. For more tips on finding a room you can visit our page about housing.
Important: You must pay your tuition fee to Wageningen University on time. Priority for housing based on your home address will only be granted after your tuition payment has been confirmed.
A laptop is essential for your studies. You can purchase a laptop with a student discount through the WUR LaptopShop. See WUR Support for more information.
Of course, you will also need textbooks for your programme. You can usually order these with a discount via the Acco website, usually from mid-August onwards. Students who are members of a study association can order books with an additional discount and will be informed about this by their own study association. Please note: it is your own responsibility to decide where to order the required books.
In the study handbook you can find which books are recommended for each course. If you are unsure, contact the course coordinator. Many of the recommended books can also be found in the Study Collection in the Library in Forum. Books from the Study Collection cannot be borrowed, but they can be read in the library. Readers can be ordered via the webshop of proefschriftmaken.nl.
On the Current Students page, you can quickly access the most important systems and information you need during your studies, such as the digital learning environment and your class schedule. For a wide range of information, we refer you to our WUR Support Portal. As long as you are not yet able to log in as a student, select the "I don't have an account" option to view the publicly available information.
