Payment of tuition fees

Specific information on tuition fees for students starting in September or February can be found "Starting in September" and "Starting in February".

For students starting in September

All Dutch students pay the tuition fee via Studielink. As of May 1, a new task will appear in your ‘To Do’ list. Here you can choose how you would like to pay.

The payment deadline is August 15, however, we strongly advise you to confirm your payment earlier.  As soon as you have confirmed the digital authorization, we consider your payment done. As soon as you meet all other enrolment criteria, you will be enrolled and your WUR account will become available.

By confirming your  digital authorisation, you give Wageningen University & Research permission to collect the tuition fees from your bank account. In that case, you have met the payment obligation immediately, despite the fact that the amount is not debited until September 25.

If you withdraw your (request for) enrollment at Wageningen University & Research before 1 September, the digital authorisation will be cancelled.

For students starting in February

All Dutch students pay the tuition fee via Studielink. In your 'To Do' list you can indicate how you would like to pay.

The payment deadline is January 15, however, we strongly advise you to confirm your payment earlier.  As soon as you have confirmed the digital authorization, we consider your payment done. As soon as you meet all other enrolment criteria, you will be enrolled and your WUR account will become available.

By confirming your digital authorization, you give Wageningen University & Research permission to collect the tuition fees from your bank account. In that case, you have met the payment obligation immediately, despite the fact that the amount is not debited until February 25. Therefore, do this as soon as possible, but no later than 15 January!

If you choose to pay in multiple instalments an administration fee of € 24,- applies. The administration fee will be deducted together with the first instalment.

If you withdraw your (request for) enrollment at Wageningen University & Research before 1 February, the digital authorization will be cancelled.

Also an official Proof of Payment of Tuition Fees (BBC) can be made long before your money actually will be deducted from your bank account.

No rights can be derived from this page, this amount is applicable if you are entitled to pay the statutory fee.

Verification of your pre-education

The pre-education of Dutch students will be verified via Studielink (if you have obtained your pre-education in the Netherlands*). This should be automatically verified before the enrolment deadline.

Please check if this has been done once you have obtained your degree (note that this could take a couple of weeks after graduation).

When your pre-education is not verified two weeks before the enrolment deadline, please make sure your previous institute forward us the following document: Proof of Graduation together with a final transcript of records. They can forward these documents to email address ssc@wur.nl

Please make sure we receive these documents before these deadlines:

• September intake: August 31 (your graduation date must be before September 1)
• February intake: January 31 (your graduation date must be before February 1)

Housing

Wageningen University & Research has a large community of students. Finding a room in Wageningen or the surrounding area is not always easy. Most students in Wageningen rent a room through Idealis, but you can also choose to search for a room yourself through other channels.

If you live further away than 130 km from Wageningen, you can get priority at Idealis. For a room at Idealis, you can register at ROOM.nl. You can already do this when you turn 16. On the page about housing you will find more tips about finding a room.

Annual Introduction Days (AID)

During the AID, you will get to know the University, your fellow students, all the students organizations, the city and all that Wageningen has to offer. You’ll be guided by two current students that will make you feel at home in Wageningen and answer your questions. For more information and registration go to the AID website.

Payment of the tuition fees

All European students indicate their method of payment via Studielink. As of 1 May, a new task will appear in your ‘To Do’ list. Here you can choose for your digital authorization.

For your enrolment and to determine what type of tuition fees you must pay, your identity has to be verified. In case this is not verified via Studielink, you will be asked to upload a scan of valid passport or EU ID-card.

The payment deadline is 15 August, however, we strongly advise you to confirm your payment earlier. As soon as you have confirmed the digital authorization, we consider your payment done. As soon as you meet all other enrolment criteria, you will be enrolled and your WUR account will become available (as of 1 July).

By confirming your digital authorization, you give Wageningen University & Research permission to collect the tuition fees from your bank account. In that case, you have met the payment obligation immediately, despite the fact that the amount is not debited until 27 September. Therefore, do this as soon as possible, but no later than 15 August!

Exemption of payment of tuition fees with ‘Proof of Payment of Tuition fees’ from other Dutch university or hbo.

If, for the same academic year, you are enrolled as a student at another Dutch Institution for Higher Education (university or HBO) for a CROHO-registered study programme and you are entitled to pay the statutory tuition fee, you may be exempted from paying tuition fees when enrolling as a student at Wageningen University for a second study programme.

To get exemption:

You must be entitled to the Dutch statutory tuition fee, and
You will have to submit an original ‘Proof of Payment of Tuition Fees’ (BBC) from the other institution where you are registered as a student, showing that you have paid the statutory tuition fee.

If you are not entitled to the statutory tuition fee at Wageningen University, you will not be eligible for exemption of tuition fees and you will have to pay the full institutional tuition fee for your second enrolment at Wageningen University.

For students starting in September

As soon as you meet all other enrolment requirements, you will be officially enrolled and your WUR account will become available (from 1 July).

By confirming your digital authorization, you give Wageningen University & Research (WUR) permission to collect the tuition fees from your bank account. This means you have met your payment obligation immediately, even though the actual amount will not be debited until 27 September. Please make sure to complete this step no later than 15 August.

If you choose to pay in instalments, an administration fee of €24 will be charged. This fee will be deducted together with the first instalment.

If you withdraw your enrolment (or request for enrolment) before 1 September, your digital authorization will automatically be cancelled.

Verification of your pre-education

To complete your enrolment, we need to verify the certified documents on which your admission was based on. Please provide certified copies* of the following documents:

1. Certified copy of your original degree that gained you admission.
2. Certified copy of your original list of marks (transcript) obtained during the programme.
3. If your degree is not in English, German, or Dutch, a certified translation of the degree is required.
4. If your list of marks is not in English, German, or Dutch, a certified translation of the transcript is required.

Deadlines for submitting these documents:

• September intake: 31 August (your graduation date must be before 1 September).
• February intake: 31 January (your graduation date must be before 1 February).

What if I have graduated, but I have not yet received my diploma?

If your graduation date is before the deadline, a certified statement of graduation is temporarily accepted. Use the following format: Proof of Graduation.

Once you receive your official diploma, you must provide a certified copy.

Choose one of the four ways to deliver your certified documents to us:

1. Per email directly from your institution
   Ask the registrar or appropriate office of your previous institution to forward your degree certificate, proof of graduation, and final transcript directly to ssc@wur.nl.
   The email must come from an official institutional email account, including your name and date of birth and the sender’s name, job title, and department. Emails from public domains (e.g., @gmail.com, @yahoo.com) are not accepted.
   
2. Online verification
   If your documents can be verified online via digital codes, please let us know. If accepted, these will be considered certified.
   
3. Per post/courier
   Clearly indicate that the envelope contains documents for enrolment. Failure to do so may result in delays, returns, or extra charges.

4. Hand in at the student desk
   You can bring the documents in person to the Student Desk in Forum Building. The address and opening hours can be found on the website.

* A certified copy is a duplicate of the original document with an original stamp/seal and signature by the institution where you obtained your degree or solicitor/notary. A regular photocopy of a certified copy without the original stamp/signature is NOT accepted.

Note: These documents will not be returned and are retained for our administration.

Housing

Wageningen University has a large and vibrant student community, but finding a room in or near Wageningen can sometimes be challenging.

Most students rent a room through Idealis, the main student housing organization in Wageningen. However, you can also choose to search for housing independently through other channels.

As a prospective student at Wageningen University you can register and apply for a room at Idealis via ROOM.nl. You may receive priority housing if your home address is more than 130 km from Wageningen. For more tips on finding a room you can visit this page.

Important: You must pay your tuition fee to Wageningen University on time. Priority for housing based on your home address will only be granted after your tuition payment has been confirmed.

Annual Introduction Days

The best way to begin your studies is by taking part in the Annual Introduction Days (AID). Every year, around 95% of new students join the AID. The programme is designed so there’s something for everyone, helping you feel at home and get acquainted with your fellow students, the university, and the city.

During the AID (Introduction Days), you will get to know Wageningen University & Research, your fellow students, student organisations and fellowships, and the city and everything Wageningen has to offer.

There are plenty of activities designed to help you feel at home in Wageningen quickly and start your student life with ease. For more information, visit AID website.

Payment of tuition fees

All non-EU/Non-EFTA students who are admitted to an MSc programme will receive an invoice.

In case you have a sponsor or a scholarship, you have to inform us as soon as possible and before the payment deadline.

In the case you have indicated that you will pay the MSc study by a sponsor, your sponsor will be contacted to arrange the financial matters.

In the case that you have been granted a scholarship, we need to receive the scholarship letter before the payment deadline. Thereafter, we will decide whether we can accept it as a payment guarantee. In case we accept the letter, we will send an invoice to the scholarship agency and possibly an additional invoice to you for remaining costs that are not covered by the scholarship.

Deadlines for payment:

• September intake: July 1st (expect to receive an invoice as from March/April)
• February intake: December 1st (expect to receive an invoice as from October)

Please be aware that this is a strict deadline, necessary in order to have enough time to apply for your legal residence.

Verification of your pre-education

In order to get enrolled in the programme we will need to verify your certified documents on which your admission was based. We require certified copies* of the following documents. Note that it is only necessary to forward these documents if you are certain that you are able to start the programme with us (e.g; you will be able to pay the tuition fee or you are certain that have you obtained a scholarship).

1. Certified copy of the original degree you gained admission with.
2. Certified copy of the original list of marks obtained during the programme.
3. If your degree is not in the English, German or Dutch language we need an additional certified translation of the original degree.
4. If your list of marks is not in the English, German or Dutch language we need an additional certified translation of the original list of marks.

*A certified copy is a duplicate of the original document affixed with an original stamp/seal and signature by an authorised person from the institution you gained the degree from, a solicitor or notary. A regular photo-copy of a certified copy with no original stamp/signature is not certified and will NOT be accepted. Note that these documents will not be returned to you and are kept for our administration.

Deadlines for supplying these documents:

• September intake: June 30 (your graduation date must be before July 1).
• February intake: November 30 (your graduation date must be before December 1).

Please note: The deadline has been set to be able to complete the visa process in time. If you have not graduated yet and the expected graduation date will be end of June/beginning of July we can give you extension until 15 July at the latest to provide your documents (for the February intake this extended deadline is 15 December).

What if I have graduated, but I did not yet receive my diploma?

If your graduation date is before the above mentioned deadline a certified statement of graduation is also accepted for now. Please use the following format: Proof of Graduation. You will still need to provide us with a certified copy once you have received your diploma.

There are four ways to deliver your certified documents to us, choose one:

1. Per email directly from your institution
   You can request the registrar's office (or other appropriate records/examinations office of your previous institution) to forward your degree certificate, diploma or proof of graduation plus a final transcript of records directly to ssc@wur.nl, mentioning your name and date of birth.
   This email must be sent through an official institutional email account, complete with the sender's name, job title, and department. We cannot accept emails from public domains such as ‘@yahoo.com’, ‘@gmail.com’ etc.
   
2. Online verification
   If you have documents that can be verified online by us via digital codes. If we can accept these documents, we consider them certified.
   
3. Per post/courier
   Explicitly mention that the envelope contains documents for enrollment. Failing to address the document in that manner, can cause your documents to be delayed and/or returned to sender or the post office might bill you additional costs.

Verification of your pre-education (China)

In order to get enrolled in the programme we will need to verify your certified documents on which your admission was based. We require you to apply for these certified documents via the CSSD portal. We require the English version of the documents. Only once you have been officially graduated is it possible to apply for these documents via CSSD.

Please apply for the following certified documents at CSSD and get CSSD to forward the documents to ssc@wur.nl.

• Online Verification Report of Higher Education Qualification Certificate
• Verification Report of China Higher Education Student's Academic Transcript

Deadlines for supplying these documents:

• September intake: 15 July at the latest, your graduation date however must be by July 1. But the sooner the better!
• February intake: 15 December at the latest, your graduation date however must be by December 1. But the sooner the better!

Legal residence in the Netherlands (if applicable)

As soon as the steps Payment of the fees and the Verification of your pre education have been completed, the Student Immigration Office of Wageningen University & Research will start your entry visa/residence permit procedure. For more information visit the following website.

For legal residence application a valid passport is required, so make sure your passport scan is uploaded in your application portal with the following details:

• All your personal data
• Your signature
• Your passport number
• Date of issue
• Expiry date: your passport should at least be valid until 6 months after the start date of your programme. However, we recommend that your passport is valid until 4 months after the end date of your study.
• When you have been to the Netherlands before, submit the page with the exit stamp of the custom services at the airport.

Roadmap

Student Immigration Office (SIO) of Wageningen University & Research will start the legal residence process in your student portal (OSIRIS), send you instructions and forms (roadmap) upon receipt of your payment and/or fellowship letter.
