General & Mental guidance

Doing a PhD can be exciting, inspiring and highly rewarding, but it can also be challenging and stressful at times. It’s normal to face questions or situations that you cannot handle alone. Asking for support is part of taking care of yourself and your PhD journey.

A safe environment

At Wageningen University & Research (WUR), you have access to a wide range of support. PhD advisors can give confidential advice and coaching on your programme and research challenges. If you face workplace issues, conflicts, or undesirable behaviour, the confidential counsellors, the Social Safety Contact Point and the ombudsperson are there to help. For matters of scientific integrity, specialised confidential counsellors are available. HR advisers can support you with employment-related or organisational questions.

Health and vitality

Your health and well-being matter. You can reach out to the in-house medical officer or Occupational Social Work for support with mental or physical health concerns. Our on-campus sports centre 'de Bongerd' offers plenty of opportunities to exercise by yourself or in group training, helping you to you stay healthy, balanced and resilient throughout your PhD.
