Impulse - Building 115

In the 1950s, the site of Impulse was occupied by a barn belonging to Wageningen Research (WR). After a 1990 renovation into office space and a restaurant, the then-WR Management moved into the building. A unique feature was a large atrium at basement level, with a bridge leading across to the offices on the ground floor. After the integration with Wageningen University & Research, the WR management and staff moved to a building on the Costerweg in Wageningen.

At that time, the idea arose to create a place where students, scientists, and entrepreneurs could meet, engage in conversation, and inspire one another. A sanctuary. SW-Architecten embraced this idea by creating an open lounge and arena in the atrium: the Speaker's Corner. Interior designers Rietmeijer created an inviting, fresh design. The outdoor area also exudes the atmosphere of a sanctuary, making Impulse the premier platform for everyone with creative and innovative ideas since its opening in 2012. There are ongoing activities, ranging from lunch lectures and (evening) debates to lunch concerts and exhibitions.
