The Executive Board of Wageningen University & Research (WUR) has appointed Mr Sjoerd Bosgra as Director of Operations of the Animal Sciences Group (ASG), effective 1 February 2027. He is currently Managing Director of University College Utrecht, part of Utrecht University.

Sjoerd Bosgra succeeds Menno van Manen, who will retire at the end of March 2027. The two will therefore overlap for two months, which they will use to ensure a good handover.

Ernst van den Ende, Managing Director of the Animal Sciences Group, is looking forward to Sjoerd’s arrival: “We are confident that operations will be in good hands with Sjoerd. He has international work experience, including in complex organisations. Our organisation is stable, but financially we are living in challenging times. I look forward to keeping ASG healthy together with Sjoerd.”

Sjoerd Bosgra is, of course, also looking forward to starting at WUR: “I grew up on a farm, so it feels fitting to be joining WUR. Things have come full circle. WUR is an inspiring organisation, and the work will be a great professional challenge for me. I am really eager to get started.”

Sjoerd Bosgra studied Hotel Management in Leeuwarden and worked in China and the United States. He obtained his Master’s in Organization Studies at Tilburg University. He worked at Schiphol Group and Alliander before moving into the education sector in 2015 (Utrecht University of Applied Sciences). In March 2020, he began his current role at University College Utrecht.

The Executive Board wishes Sjoerd every success in his new role and looks forward to the positive impact he will have on the organisation.
