Victor Viveen appointed director of Digitalisation Information Services

The Executive Board of Wageningen University & Research has appointed Victor Viveen as director of Digitalisation Information Services (DIS). DIS is a new organisational unit set up to make WUR more effective at harnessing digital opportunities.
In total, WUR is bringing around 300 existing staff members into the new unit:
- From the CVI staff department: WDCC (Wageningen Data Competence Centre)
- From the Facilities Department: the Library, the Information Management (IM) department, the Information Technology (IT) department, the Document Management department, and the security officers
- From the CG&L staff department: privacy officers
According to Peter Ploegsma, member of the Executive Board, Viveen is the right man for the job: "Digitalisation is now indispensable in education, research and business operations, where we need to make the most of the opportunities available while remaining secure, robust, independent and affordable. Victor knows our organisation well. What's more, he has proven himself over recent years to be a strategic leader who brings people together. We are therefore confident that he can make WUR more effective at harnessing digital opportunities."
Victor is currently still director of IT services at the Facilities & Services but has already been serving as pathfinder for DIS over the past year: "I'm looking forward to starting in this new role. Over the past year we've done the preparatory work, and I feel privileged now to actually get started." DIS will launch on 1 September. "We'll be explaining exactly what that will involve in due course."
Viveen joined WUR in 2021, having previously spent many years working at the Dutch National Police in various IT roles. He lives in Leusden with his wife and children.
