Students highly satisfied with atmosphere and study facilities at Wageningen University & Research
Students are, in almost every respect, more than averagely satisfied with Wageningen University & Research. They award particularly high marks for the atmosphere and study facilities in the annual National Student Survey (NSE).
Nearly 4,000 respondents from Wageningen awarded Wageningen University & Research an average score of 4.1 for ‘Overall Satisfaction’, with a maximum score of 5. The national average score for Dutch universities is 3.8.
Students are especially positive about the atmosphere within their courses and the available study facilities. They are also highly satisfied with the availability and quality of academic guidance. Furthermore, Wageningen scores notably well for ‘Information from Your Course’: while the national average satisfaction score for this aspect is a relatively low 3.6, students at Wageningen award it an average of 4.0.
Another positive outcome is in the area of social safety. More than half of the Wageningen students who took part gave the maximum score for the statement ‘I feel safe to be myself at the institution where I study’. There is, however, room for improvement regarding how well studies align with professional practice — although, nationally, students tend to be critical on this point.
The National Student Survey (NSE) is an annual study conducted by the National Centre for Study Choice, which provides insight into student satisfaction within Dutch higher education. Almost all students in Dutch higher education are invited to share their views on their study programmes. In the survey, they indicate how satisfied they are with various aspects of their course and institution. This year, nearly 260,000 students participated — almost one-third (32.6%) of all students in higher education.
