I am a PhD candidate working on ReefWatchers, developing better tools to monitor biodiversity on restored biogenic reefs in the North Sea. My research compares non-invasive methods like passive acoustics, ROV imagery, eDNA metabarcoding, with physical sampling, to identify which combinations best capture biodiversity, food web complexity, and ecosystem functioning. The aim is to build cost-effective ecosystem functioning indicators that are useful for practitioners, policymakers, and restoration decisions.
