DP (Dieuwerke) Bolhuis, PhD MSc

I am a senior researcher specializing in food perception, consumer behaviour and nutrition. My work focuses on understanding how sensory properties, food composition and eating behaviour influence food choice, dietary intake and health. Over the past decade, I have built expertise ranging from taste perception and eating rate to food reformulation, ultra-processed foods and consumer acceptance of healthier food products.

Since joining Wageningen Food & Biobased Research in 2023, I have led and contributed to multidisciplinary research projects with academic, industry and governmental partners aimed at developing evidence-based strategies for healthier food choices and food innovation. My research combines fundamental insights with practical applications to support healthier and more sustainable diets.
