Biography

Biography

I am a postdoctoral researcher at the Soil Geography and Landscape group, working in luminescence dating of earthworks - human landscape modifications in the spotlight from the interdisciplinary EARTHWORK project.

My research focuses on luminescence dating and its application in archaeology and geology. I obtained my PhD degree from the University of Hong Kong in 2023 with the thesis of "Developments and applications of luminescence dating in Earth sciences" (Top 5%).

In this project, I will develop and improve luminescence dating methods (e.g., quartz single-aliquot OSL and feldspar single-grain pIRIR dating) on dikes and dwelling mounds in the Netherlands, to determine when earthworks in the Netherlands were constructed, extended and/or modified. Combining other disciplines, the evolution of the Dutch cultural landscape and its relationship to climate change would be reconstructed.
