I have been working on the development of the Bio-economy for over 25 years, both on the technical development side, being trained as a polymer scientist originaly, as well as on systems issues. I have been an advisor to the Dutch Ministry of Agriculture for Biobased Economy for many year. Presently I am responsible for the research field “Chain Design and Systems Analysis” and I am co-writer and co-responsible for the Wageningen UR investment program “Toward a Circular and Climate Neutral Society”. Also, I am programme secretary of the topsector Agri&Food programmes on valorisation of side-streams and proteins. My research focuses both on renewable materials including bioplastics and textiles and on sustainability and systems issues regarding the circular and biobased economy.
