dr. KL (Karen) Krijgsveld

I am a bird ecologist and researcher in the Animal Ecology team at WEnR, where I am involved in applied research on disturbance of birds and bird ecology in relation to wind - and solar energy. I have ample experience with research on flight behaviour and collision risks of birds and with using bird radars for that purpose, and with bird responses to human activities such as outdoor recreation and aircraft movements. Until the end of 2025 I am leading the project EcoCertified Solar Parks, where we work on facilitating a quick and nature-inclusive energy transition with solar parks that have an added value for biodiversity and a healthy soil, based on research and with the development of the label EcoCertified Solar Parks.
