dr. L (Lu) Zhang

Dr. Lu Zhang is assistant professor at Laboratory of Food Process Engineering, leading the research on additive food assembly (3D printing). Lu was trained as a chemical engineer at Xiamen University (China) where she developed a strong interest in food science and process engineering. In 2018, she defended her PhD thesis entitled Bioactive Ingredients during Mini-bread Baking and received her doctoral degree at Wageningen University. Her current position is funded by NWO Sectorplan Techniek. She conducts interdisciplinary research spanning materials science, process engineering, and mechanical engineering. She combines her background in engineering and food science to make the future in personalised food possible!
