Biography

Biography

I enjoy working at the science-policy-society interface in issues where stakes are high and science can be involved meaningfully, critically and humbly. From the perspective of environmental social science, I have studied biodiversity finance, just energy transition and access, tourism and sustainable development. I have experience in providing scientific advice for policy, including through science diplomacy (2022 NWO embassy science fellow), science consultancy and within communities-of-practices. I communicate my output through peer-reviewed papers, policy briefs, media releases and slide decks.

I am a teacher-at-heart and in qualification, finding great pleasure in teaching BSc, MSc and PhD courses, for students with both social and natural science backgrounds. Likewise, I have given speeches and presentations to a diverse group of scholars, policymakers and societal stakeholders.

I am a core member of the European based Ghent Group on advice for policy, the 4TU Alliance for Energy Access, the NL Energy Compact, and the emerging academic network on development effectiveness (https://developmenteffectivenessnetwork.org website coming up soon!)

I hold a PhD in conservation finance, an MSc in Tourism Studies and a BA in Business Management.
