dr. S (Sander) Grefte

I am specialized in mitochondrial bioenergetics, muscle (stem) cell differentiation & function. My main role at Human and Animal Physiology is being the Education Coordinator and Academic teacher for several courses. My research expertise was investigating the role mitochondria and redox homeostasis on the functioning and differentiation of skeletal muscle both in vitro and in vivo. A specific focus was on (the formation of) neuromuscular junctions and modulating mitochondrial bioenergetics and redox homeostasis, e.g. hypoxia, gene knock-out, aging.
