Biography

Prof Dr Otto Hospes investigates international politics of sustainable food and agriculture. He particularly focuses on controversies between European and Indonesian authorities on sustainable palm oil, that are the result of unilateral European policies on renewable energy, deforestation and due diligence. He is a former senior evaluator at the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and has extensive experience in coordinating large interdisciplinary PhD research programs on global value chains (otto.hospes@wur.nl). He collaborates intensively with Indonesian scholars in his capacity as Adjunct Professor of IPB University, Bogor. Five of his publications are:
