Biography
Hello! I am Roelof Kramer. After studying field crop science in Wageningen and Russian in the army as an interrogator, I sold seeds and crop protection products in Eastern Europe, first based in the Netherlands and later Switzerland. With this experience and an MBA degree from Nijenrode, I worked for several consultancy firms advising agribusiness companies worldwide. After that, I started my own company in England and set up several international consortia and projects in Mexico with CIMMYT and in Colombia with CIAT. The aim was to develop data, information and advisory platforms for sustainable rice, wheat, oil palm and sugar cane. In my current job as project manager based at the WUR research location in Valthermond, The Netherlands, I will apply my knowledge and experience to achieve more sustainable arable farming, particularly in the “peat colonies”. I will do this by establishing long-term partnerships and by creating and implementing innovative solutions in agricultural production chains.
