Biography

Biography

The main focus of my research is the emergence, spread, and persistence of resistance against antifungals (azoles) in the fungus Aspergillus fumigatus in the environment. This resistance is both a growing medical and environmental issue, making it a typical example of a One-Health topic. To study this topic I use a combination of fieldwork and lab experiments. For more information regarding the overarching project that my work is a part of, go to https://www.wur.nl/en/project/One-health-consequences-of-circularity.htm

Information for students: I have multiple BSc and MSc projects available within my research and I am always willing to think along with you if you are interested in doing a thesis on environmental azole resistance in Aspergillus fumigatus. You can find a summary of some of my thesis ideas, along with many others from the genetics chair group at Genetics Thesis & Internships on Brightspace.
