I (Ilaria) Micella
Biography
I obtained my BSc in Environmental Engineering from Politecnico di Milano in 2018, followed by two MSc degrees: one in Earth Resources Engineering (2020) and another in Science and Management of Climate Change (2021). I got my PhD at Wageningen University & Research in 2026, where I focused on global water quality modelling within the Earth Systems and Global Change group.
As a researcher, I aim to advance the understanding of how human activities and climate change shape water quality across scales. My goal is to bridge environmental modelling, data analysis, and decision-making to ensure that water quality is effectively represented in global change assessments and that science-based solutions to pollution challenges are developed. I seek to be part of projects that combine interdisciplinary modelling, open data, and scenario analysis to inform future environmental policies. My long-term ambition is to contribute to a research environment that promotes scientific collaboration, transparency, and actionable knowledge to address global water challenges.
