Biography
Eric Steinebach was trained as a structural engineer and studied Higher Installation Technology and Construction Law after his HTS. After having worked for 10 years as a project manager at a large installation company (GTI), 10 years as manager Technical Management/Real Estate at the ANWB and 10 years as a consultant and director at a large engineering firm, where he was responsible for installation designs of various large projects (including new construction Orion and BSL3 of WBVR, Paleis het Loo and various PPP projects), he made the switch to WUR in 2018.
As head of Building & Housing Management, he was responsible for the development of BHM, including all construction, renovation and maintenance work of the WUR buildings. The department consists of 23 colleagues, divided into project management, technical building management, maintenance, asset management and contract management.
In January 2026, Eric moved to Wageningen Bioveterinary Research at WUR, where he works full-time as a Technical Program Manager on the development of a whole new High Containment Unit, 'HCU2035' in Lelystad. A program of >375 million euros that should be completed around 2035.
Eric is also founder and chairman of think tank Vastgoed Straks and founder of the Exploitatiegericht Ontwerpen foundation.
