Biography

Rhoda Odongo is a postdoctoral researcher at  Earth Systems and Global Change Group. As part of the LODESTAR project, her research involves flood & drought risk assessment and forecasting,  and community adaptation. Her research integrates statistical modelling, machine learning, and environmental hazard analysis to enhance climate resilience and disaster risk reduction.  Her PhD (part of the DOWN2Earth project) focused on mapping drought risk and community resilience through a combination of drought propagation analysis, impact-based risk assessments, and adaptation strategy evaluations. Her PhD employed random forest models, clustering techniques, and mixed-methods approaches to capture the socio-economic and environmental dimensions of drought vulnerability. Her work emphasizes data-driven decision-making for water resource management, food security, and climate adaptation strategies.

Rhoda also contributes to teaching and supervision.
