Biography

Kars Hüsken is a passionate marine ecologist and a social and proactive team player. He holds a Master’s degree in Animal Sciences with a specialization in Aquaculture and Fisheries from Wageningen University & Research. He has a strong background in both marine and terrestrial ecology, having worked on various ecological assessments and impact analyses, contributing to nature management plans and environmental impact assessments. His marine experience spans multiple large-scale projects, including offshore wind energy connections, habitat enhancement for benthic animals and waders, and nature-based solutions for coastal ecosystems.

In his current role, Kars is dedicated to advancing knowledge of how human interventions impact marine life and ecosystems. The focus lies on understanding and assessing the cumulative effects of human activities on marine ecosystems, particularly in the North Sea. Passionate about the ecology of our marine environment, he combines spatial analytical skills with a collaborative approach to improve the sustainable management and conservation of marine environments.
