Biography

Biography

Marko holds a PhD degree in forest policy from the University of Freiburg, Germany. He specialises in forest policy and economics. Before joining Wageningen University & Research as an Assistant Professor, he worked at the European Forest Institute as a senior researcher and at the Faculty of Forestry, University of Zagreb, where he worked as an assistant in forest policy. He has 17 years of experience in research. His work explored European ecosystem services, transition towards bioeconomy, certification of forest management and chain of custody, valuation of forests, formulation and implementation of national and international forest focused and forest related policies, international trade of wood, collection and consumption of non-wood forest products and factors framing uptake of agroforestry practices across Europe. Marko was involved in many projects as a researcher and project manager. He also coordinated the H2020 project SINCERE (Spurring INnovations for Forest ECosystem SERvices in Europe) and the Horizon Europe project (European Forest Research and Innovation Ecosystem).
