MA (Md Akib) Jabed
Biography
Md. Akib Jabed is a PhD candidate at Wageningen University, the Netherlands, specializing in the fields of Empowerment, Locally-led Development and Climate Adaptation. His research interests span a wide range of interdisciplinary areas, including climate-induced losses and damages, nature-based solutions, marginalized communities and public health.
Before beginning his PhD journey, Mr. Jabed served as the Coordinator of the Center for Climate Change and Environmental Health (3CEH) at the Asian University for Women, where he led initiatives in research, advocacy, and capacity building. Prior to that, he worked as a Project Coordinator at the Center for Participatory Research and Development (CPRD), a research-based NGO in Bangladesh focused on participatory climate and development research.
Mr. Jabed holds two Master’s degrees: one in Urban Management and Development from Erasmus University Rotterdam, the Netherlands, and another in Geography and Environmental Studies from the University of Chittagong, Bangladesh, where he also completed his Bachelor’s.
Since 2015, he has been actively engaged in research projects both in Bangladesh and internationally. He has published extensively in reputed national and international journals and has presented his work at various academic and policy forums. His academic and professional background reflects a strong commitment to addressing the pressing challenges posed by climate change, particularly in urban and vulnerable contexts.
