mr. dr. C (Clement) Uwizeye, MSc
Biography
Clement Uwizeye is a PhD Candidate in Development Economics at Wageningen University & Research, Netherlands, where he began his doctoral studies in December 2024. His research examines the impact of cash transfer bundles on community dynamics and forest conservation near Nyungwe National Park, Rwanda , with a strong focus on causal inference and policy-relevant outcomes.
His broader research interests span macroeconometrics, impact evaluation or microeconometrics, development economics, gender and boardroom diversity, and the application of econometric and machine learning techniques to inform policy analysis and evidence-based decision-making.
Prior to his PhD, Clement worked at the Rwanda Revenue Authority as a Professional in Charge of Research and Policy Analysis within the Strategic and Risk Analysis Department. In this role, he contributed to policy design, revenue analysis, and the strengthening of data-driven decision-making processes.
He has also gained international academic exposure through an Erasmus exchange program at Kiel University and completed the Advanced Studies Program at the Kiel Institute for the World Economy, Germany.
Clement holds a MSc in Applied Quantitative Economics and a BSc in Monetary Economics. He possesses strong expertise in quantitative analysis and is proficient in statistical and programming tools including R, Stata, and Python.
In his free time, he enjoys listening to gospel music, playing the piano when possible, attending economic debates, and reading books.
