P (Paria) Sefeedpari, PhD MSc
Biography
I am a researcher at Wageningen Livestock Research (Wageningen University & Research), specializing in emissions and manure valoorisation in livestock systems. My work focuses on applying research-based knowledge and technological innovation to improve the environmental and energy performance of livestock farming systems—particularly in relation to ammonia (NH3) and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, nutrient cycling, and manure treatment and management on pig and cattle farms.
I am particularly interested in the integration of technology and management strategies not only to support sustainable agricultural production, but also to advance the well-being of humans, animals, and the planet.
My PhD research centered on the simulation, development, and control of large-scale biogas production in dairy farming. I hold an MSc in Energy in Agriculture, where I focused on the optimisation of energy use in dairy and poultry egg farms using fuzzy logic methods. I earned my BSc in Agricultural Mechanisation Engineering, all obtained at the University of Tehran, Iran.
I have expertise in emission modelling, multi-objective optimisation for sustainable production, business model development, and the application of machine learning and statistical analysis using R, MATLAB, and other tools. I have also applied productivity assessment frameworks, such as Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), for benchmarking agricultural systems.
Currently, I contribute to several national and international research projects, funded by Dutch ministries and funding organisations. My current work focuses on source-oriented measures to reduce emissions in pig farming systems, using a combination of on-farm measurements and model-based approaches. I am particularly engaged in the development of prediction and assessment models at the farm level, which has become a key area of interest in recent years.
