Biography

Biography

After completing my bachelor’s degree in “Liberal Arts and Sciences” at University College Roosevelt (part of Utrecht University), I pursued a master’s degree in “Earth and Environment” at Wageningen University & Research (WUR), specializing in the biology and chemistry of soil and water. During my thesis, I focused on the binding behavior of cadmium to organic matter fractions in tropical cocoa soils. I then completed an internship during which I conducted research on greenhouse gas emissions from dredging activities and surface waters.

After my studies, I worked as an ecologist for 1.5 years. In this role, I again conducted research on greenhouse gas emissions from dredging activities and surface waters, but I was also involved in projects related to the Water Framework Directive (WFD), quaking bog formation, and greenhouse gas emissions.

In my current role as a researcher soil and climate within the sustainable soil use team, I focus primarily on the topic of carbon sequestration in agricultural soils. Among other things, I conduct research on the permanence of carbon sequestration and work on modeling the carbon cycle at various scales.
