I have been appointed a special chair of Dietetics since June 2020. This chair is financed by the Dutch Dietetic Association. 

I will address evidence based dietetics with as primary goal to substantiate the profession of dietetics, and to build on further development of the profession, through effectiveness research within dietetic care in primary care and prevention. This includes the development and evaluation of dietetic interventions and therapies in extra-mural settings, such as GP practices (‘huisartsen’) and elderly care homes. The studies will also address the topic to what extent evidence based practice works in daily life. Special attention will be given to collaboration between allied health professionals. Academic research will help to further professionalize the dietetic discipline and thus to improve patient care, important goals of the NVD (Dutch Association of Dietitians).
