Biography

Biography

I am a PhD Candidate at Wageningen University and Research (WUR), focusing on Carbon Lock-In in coal-dependent regions and its implications for Indonesia’s energy transition from a political lens. My research explores how entrenched political interests and fragmented governance structures sustain coal dependency, making it challenging to implement energy transition policies effectively. Through this research, I aim to contribute to the understanding of policy interventions and governance reforms needed to break carbon lock-in and support Indonesia’s transition to a low-carbon economy.

Prior to my PhD, I worked as a consultant at Integra Consulting Group, where I led several major projects, including developing the master plan and feasibility study for the Kawasan Ekonomi Khusus (Special Economic Zone) Nickel Smelter in Morowali, Central Sulawesi; designing a new Special Economic Zone in BSD City to boost health, education, and technology investment; and working on strategic assessments for coal-to-ethanol gasification projects for PTBA and Kaltim Prima Coal. These experiences have equipped me with a deep understanding of the intersections between policy, business interests, and energy infrastructure.

I am passionate about writing and teaching. I have published two books with leading publishers in Indonesia (Quanta, Elex Media Komputindo, and Mizan), as well as several academic and op-ed articles. In addition, I enjoy sharing my insights through open lectures and workshops to engage broader audiences and promote critical discussions on energy transition and sustainable development.
