Biography
Roos Metselaar is a medical anthropologist and PhD candidate at the Knowledge, Technology, and Innovation Group at Wageningen University. In her PhD project she works with swimmers, gardeners, public health professionals, and general practitioners to come up with new ways of dealing with PFAS-pollution in everyday practices. Her work is particularly concerned with the relationship between knowing and acting, and with strategies for dealing with big, “unsolvable” problems in everyday life. For her previous project, about which she published a paper in Medical Anthropology, she was awarded the University of Amsterdam Thesis Prize 2024 for the best and most original Master’s thesis of the year. She is also an editor of ETNOFOOR.
