S (Steffen) Bruns, PhD

Dr Steffen Bruns is Lecturer for several courses such as Programming in Python, Big Data, Advanced Programming in Python, and Data Structures for Life Sciences.

He has a background in Medical Engineering Sciences and obtained his PhD in Medical Image Analysis with Deep Learning from Amsterdam UMC. His research focused on the automatic analysis of high-dimensional CT scans of the heart. After his PhD, he worked as a data scientist for the department for healthy and sustainable nutrition at the RIVM (Bilthoven, NL) and for REWE Group (Cologne, Germany). After that, he became a lecturer at karriere tutor GmbH (Cologne, Germany), before joining WUR in 2026.
