Biography

Biography

Samantha Gan Kristensen is a PhD candidate in the Environmental Policy chair group at Wageningen University & Research. Her research focuses on the governance of new automated data collection technologies for nature-inclusive wind energy structures in the North Sea, and is part of the NWO BeWILD project (Biodiversity Enhanced Wind Farm development, Integrated monitoring and inspection and Localised Design). She is interested in understanding the complexities that exists in marine social-ecological systems and to innovate more inclusive governance arrangements that can strengthen the monitoring and management of marine biodiversity. Her past experiences have focused on a wide range of topics such as REDD+ governance, marine conservation and restoration (i.e. coral reef and turtle restoration), implementing the SDGs in cities and regions, corporate sustainability and decentralised development co-operation. She has work experience in the Netherlands, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Denmark, Indonesia and France.
