Biography
Tahir Abbas is an Assistant Professor in Agentic AI for Smart Systems at the Information Technology Group. His research focuses on conversational systems, systems thinking, agent-based modeling, and human-computer interaction.
His work explores how AI systems can be designed to better serve human needs, from investigating privacy considerations in personalized AI adoption to developing intelligent interfaces for affective support.
His research addresses fundamental questions about how humans and AI agents interact, the role of autonomy and control in intelligent systems, and the design of technology that enhances human capabilities while respecting privacy and agency.
At WUR, he is advancing the application of agentic AI systems through a systems thinking lens to address complex challenges in life sciences, agriculture, food systems, and energy.
