Y (Yue) Wang
Biography
Addressing environmental issues in livestock systems is urgently critical for safeguarding the planet, societies, and food security. My long-term goal is to sustainably shape the future of livestock systems. My research contributes to advancing environmental sustainability of livestock systems through multidisciplinary perspectives and methods.
My PhD project, completed in 2024 in Wageningen University & Research, examined climate change and nutrient pollution in livestock systems (#Environmental Sciences) and evaluated mitigation strategies such as animal breeding (#Animal Sciences) and soil carbon sequestration (#Soil Sciences). My BSc and MSc training in Agricultural Economics and Management in China further equipped me with expertise in economic analysis and strategic management (#Social Sciences). My research applies methods such as life cycle assessment, nutrient balance analysis, climate modelling, and farm survey approaches.
My current research interests focus on understanding how global livestock production, consumption, and trade can be guided to better align with food security and climate objectives. I collaborate with partners from multiple countries and organizations, with a particularly strong network in China.
