Operations Research and Logistics, led by chairholder Sander de Leeuw, aims to contribute to the state-of-the-art of Operations Research and Logistics Management in agrifood and biobased supply chains to cope with contemporary complexity issues by developing innovative logistics concepts, decision support models, and solution approaches.
Research
Our research projects focus on decision making in the domain of agrifood and biobased supply chain. Central in these projects is the increasing complexity and uncertainty, as well as the specific characteristics of our domain. Our work supports organisations in
achieving robust performance, including the trade-offs between costs, service, quality and sustainability.

- Logistics in a circular (bio-based) economy
Education
Education by the Operations Research and Logistics group
We offer a diverse portfolio of courses followed by students across all programmes at Wageningen University. These include basic courses as well as follow-up courses with a focus on management, engineering, sustainability, or an integration of these perspectives. We also provide opportunities for students to engage more deeply with our field through bachelor’s and master’s theses, as well as internships, all supervised by our academic staff.

Sander de Leeuw is professor and chairholder of Operations Research and Logistics. His research focusses on supply chain managment but also looks at design methodology and system analysis.
