The name Vitae, literally means ‘of life’. This transparent, curved building has been designed to complement the existing buildings of Wageningen Food Safety Research (WFSR) adjecent to it, which date from the 50s and 70s. Vitae was opened in 2009.
Vitae was designed by Broekbakema Architects, and was placed in the nook of the existing laboratory building. The two structures are connected by a number of bridges, which can be relocated to different positions to create a circuit. This means that in case of function changes the internal logistics can easily be adjusted.
Signs directing you to Wageningen Campus are placed along all major access roads to Wageningen. Once on the campus, follow the ‘P-route’ to car park P3. Here (and at all the other main car parks) you will find signs with directions to the various buildings on the campus. Vitae' s building number is 123.
