Chemical Analyst Pesticides

Your job
At Wageningen Food Safety Research (WFSR), we’re looking for an enthusiastic and precise Chemical Analyst who thrives in a dynamic laboratory environment and enjoys hands-on work. You’ll join one of our Pesticides Teams, where we analyse food products daily for the presence of pesticides — meaning your work directly contributes to food safety for both humans and animals.
What will you do?
As a Chemical Analyst (Pesticides), you’ll carry out analyses using standardized protocols. Your work will focus mainly on instrumental analysis with advanced LC-(HR)MS/MS and GC-(HR)MS/MS systems. You’ll report your analytical and research results to the project leader and work closely with your analysis team to ensure efficient execution and high-quality reporting.
Your main tasks and responsibilities include:
- preparing and processing samples;
- performing measurements using modern LC-(HR)MS/MS and/or GC-(HR)MS/MS systems;
- processing and interpreting analytical data;
- drafting Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
You’ll be involved in the entire process, from sample preparation to reporting, making your work both varied and rewarding. You’ll collaborate with a team of dedicated colleagues who share your commitment to delivering reliable results.
About the team
You’ll be part of one of our Pesticides Teams (around 20 colleagues per team), based in Wageningen. These are professional, motivated teams where collaboration, quality, and job satisfaction go hand in hand.
Your qualities
You are accurate, flexible, and enjoy working in a laboratory setting. In addition, you have:
- a completed secondary vocational education (MBO) in an analytical or related field;
- (internship) experience in a laboratory environment;
- willingness to work approximately one Saturday per month;
- experience with LCMS/MS and/or GCMS/MS is a plus, but not required — we’ll be happy to train you;
- Dutch is desirable, however if you don’t speak Dutch yet, we expect the willingness to learn Dutch.
In our international working environment there is an increasing amount of communication in English. For this position it is about language level B1.
Due to Dutch immigration laws, candidates from outside the EU/EFTA zone, can usually not be hired for this position. More information can be found on the website of the Dutch Immigration and Naturalization Service.
