At Wageningen Food Safety Research (WFSR), we’re looking for an enthusiastic and precise Chemical Analyst who thrives in a dynamic laboratory environment and enjoys hands-on work. You’ll join one of our Pesticides Teams, where we analyze food products daily for the presence of pesticides — meaning your work directly contributes to food safety for both humans and animals.

What will you do?

As a Chemical Analyst (Pesticides), you’ll carry out analyses using standardized protocols. Your work will focus mainly on instrumental analysis with advanced LC-(HR)MS/MS and GC-(HR)MS/MS systems. You’ll report your analytical and research results to the project leader and work closely with your analysis team to ensure efficient execution and high-quality reporting.

Your main tasks and responsibilities include:

  • preparing and processing samples;
  • performing measurements using modern LC-(HR)MS/MS and/or GC-(HR)MS/MS systems;
  • processing and interpreting analytical data;
  • drafting Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

You’ll be involved in the entire process, from sample preparation to reporting, making your work both varied and rewarding. You’ll collaborate with a team of dedicated colleagues who share your commitment to delivering reliable results.

About the team

You’ll be part of Team pesticides 1, based in Wageningen. This is a professional, motivated team where collaboration and quality go hand in hand.

Your qualities

You are accurate, flexible, and enjoy working in a laboratory setting. In addition, you have:

  • a completed secondary vocational education (MBO) in an analytical or related field with at least five years of relevant working experience, or a completed HBO level education in analytical chemistry or related field;
  • (internship) experience in a laboratory environment;
  • willingness to work approximately one Saturday per month;
  • experience with LCMS/MS and/or GCMS/MS is a plus;
  • Dutch is desirable, however if you don’t speak Dutch yet, we expect the willingness to learn Dutch.

In our international working environment there is an increasing amount of communication in English. For this position it is about language level B1.

In addition to these first-rate employee benefits, you will of course receive a good salary. We offer, depending on your experience, a competitive gross salary of between €2824,- and €3893,- for a full-time working week of 36 hours, in accordance with the CLA Wageningen Research (scale 6 - 7).

Additionally, for this role a contract for 32 hours a week can be discussed. As for your contract, we initially offer a one-year contract that can be extended, if possible within (company) organizational circumstances, on good performance. Of course, we are happy to have a conversation with you if you have any questions about this.
