Coördinerend Projectleider Diagnostiek

We are looking for a Coordinating Project Leader for the Diagnostics and Crisis Organization (DCO) department of Wageningen Bioveterinary Research (WBVR), to join a close-knit team with two other project leaders.

You carry out all this work within a clear One Health context, in which your contribution to animal health supports a safe food chain and the prevention of zoonotic risks.
This team jointly manages the execution of diagnostics on the laboratory floor across the fields of virology, parasitology and bacteriology. You serve as the key point of contact for your area of expertise and are one of the designated contacts during an animal disease crisis. In this way, you play an active role in preparedness for animal disease outbreaks in the Netherlands and Europe.

As Coordinating Project Leader Diagnostics, you have two roles:

Within the diagnostic process, you are responsible for (70% of your time):

• Performing diagnostic tests for animal diseases, both serology and agent detection, under the ISO17025 quality system by a team of analysts
• Acting as an expert within DCO
• Advising government and industry on animal disease diagnostics
• Implementing new tests and techniques for the Diagnostics and Crisis Organization department
• Initiating and maintaining contacts with researchers within WBVR, both nationally and internationally
• Carrying out tasks related to diagnostics for the national reference laboratories (NRLs) within WBVR for notifiable animal diseases
• Acquisition and maintaining contact with clients
• Contributing to the animal disease crisis organization in the event of a crisis, including on-call duties for crisis diagnostics, which may take place during evenings and weekends

In addition, you are a broadly deployable researcher:

• You actively acquire internal and external projects within the field of bacteriology
• You participate as a researcher and subject-matter expert in projects

• You have completed a veterinary degree or you have experience in microbiology, molecular biology, assay development or diagnostics within the life sciences sector, in the field of infectious diseases in animals or humans
• You are quality-focused and have experience working under ISO 17025 or comparable quality standards
• You are able to establish, maintain and expand collaborations within and outside the department
• You are aware of the world around WBVR, show initiative, are customer-oriented, creative in identifying opportunities for (follow-up) research, and you are a team player
• You are resilient under stress and have demonstrated this previously in a production or diagnostic environment
• You have strong social and communication skills.

These excellent secondary employment conditions naturally come with a competitive salary. Depending on your experience, we offer a market-based salary ranging from a minimum of € 4,045 to a maximum of € 6,228 for a full 36-hour working week in accordance with the Wageningen Research CAO (scale 11). Regarding your contract, we initially offer a one-year appointment, which may be extended upon good performance. Of course, we are happy to discuss any questions you may have.

Work location: Lelystad, the Netherlands

The work will take place in facilities that require an additional quarantine restriction after leaving the premises (based on EU regulations). This means that it is not permitted to keep cloven-hoofed animals. In addition, for 72 hours after carrying out the work, you are not allowed to have contact with these animals or visit poultry production farms.
