Education Support Officer Soil Geography and Landscape (19h p/w)

Your job

Are you the proactive and initiative-driven person who enjoys supporting colleagues, bringing people together, and facilitating knowledge sharing? Do you like helping lecturers navigate administrative processes related to education and supporting them so they can focus as much as possible on the quality of their teaching?

Wageningen University is looking for an Education Support Officer for the chair group of Soil Geography and Landscape (SGL). This is a great opportunity within an enthusiastic and dedicated team, where you will directly contribute to one of the core missions of our University.

Your tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the organization of courses (with regard to scheduling, room bookings, teaching materials, student registrations, group allocations, etc.).
  • Providing logistical support for excursions and fieldwork.
  • Maintaining the digital learning environment.
  • Managing shared course email inboxes.
  • Supporting the organization of (resit) examinations.
  • Assisting with the recruitment of student assistants.
  • Supporting the education coordinator in the organization of education meetings.

You will work closely with lecturers and support staff within our group. Your workplace will be Wageningen.

Your qualities

You are a service-oriented team player with strong organizational skills. You are able to maintain an overview of your responsibilities and work accurately. In addition, you have well-developed digital skills and an interest in student affairs.

You also have:

  • A BSc degree (academic or university of applied sciences level).
  • Experience with (the organization of) WUR education (this may include experience as a student), or within another higher or university education setting.
  • A helpful attitude – you enjoy supporting others and actively look for opportunities to do so.
  • Strong communication and networking skills – you easily build new connections and can connect lecturers with each other and with educational partners across the organization.
  • Good IT skills – you make effective use of MS Excel and Outlook and can quickly find your way in various education-related systems (learning management systems, assessment systems, student information systems, etc.).
  • Fluency in both Dutch and English.

The chair group of Soil Geography and Landscape is a team with a passion for high-quality education in geomorphology, soils, and landscapes. More than a quarter of all BSc students at Wageningen University take at least one course with us during their program. We are well known for our field-based education, both in the Netherlands and abroad.

In addition to these first-rate employee benefits, you will of course receive a good salary. Depending on your experience, we offer a competitive gross salary of between € 3,382.-  and € 4,484.-  for a full-time working week of 38 hours, in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreements for Dutch Universities (CAO-NU) (scale 8). This position is for 19 hours per week, with 16–22 hours per week negotiable. As for your contract, we initially offer a one-year contract that can be extended - if possible within (company) organizational circumstances - on good performance.
