Your job

Will you become our new Quality Manager at Unifarm (Wageningen University & Research)?

Are you a quality manager who enjoys developing, implementing, and improving quality processes? In this role you will develop and safeguard the quality policy and motivate colleagues to continuously improve processes. In this way, you contribute directly to reliable research results and high-quality services within Unifarm.

As Quality Manager you are responsible for developing, improving, and maintaining the quality management system of Unifarm. You ensure that processes and procedures are continuously optimized and that we deliver the quality our customers expect.

Your main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Developing, maintaining, and improving the quality management system, including the quality handbook.
  • Preparing and monitoring the annual quality plan (quality calendar).
  • Implementing and safeguarding quality processes and procedures within the organization.
  • Organizing and carrying out internal audits and preparing and supporting external audits.
  • Working with digital planning and quality management systems to support audits, planning, and quality processes.
  • Monitoring developments in quality, legislation, and regulations and translating these into policy and improvement actions.
  • Monitoring complaints and customer satisfaction and initiating improvement measures.
  • Initiating training, supporting employees in quality processes, and coordinating the training plan.

Your team

You are the only Quality Manager within Unifarm and you are part of the Management Team. You report to the Head of Unifarm. Quality is embedded throughout the organization, which means you will work closely with many colleagues. You will also regularly interact with (international and PhD) students and researchers.

Where you will work

Unifarm has around 55 employees and supports research and education. We work with two teams: Open Field and Greenhouses & Climate Chambers.

Unifarm has very modern and advanced research facilities, including:

  • 150 greenhouse compartments.
  • 100 climate rooms, climate cabinets, and cooling/freezing rooms.
  • 220 hectares of arable land.
  • Processing facilities (seed cleaning, drying, and milling).
  • Field trial machinery and equipment.

Your qualities

You have a practical mindset, show initiative, and are able to connect people and share knowledge. Customer satisfaction is very important to you.

You also have:

  • A bachelor’s degree (HBO level) and interest in plants/green environments, process improvement, and quality management.
  • Some experience in quality management is not required but is considered an advantage.
  • Willingness to follow training in the field of quality management.
  • Good interpersonal skills (tact, listening, interest) and the ability to involve and motivate others.
  • A structured way of working, with the ability to set goals and priorities and take initiative.
  • A willingness to learn, attention to detail, flexibility, and a service-oriented attitude.
  • Excellent command of Dutch (for writing texts for the quality handbook) and a good to very good level of English for providing information and giving presentations;
  • Ability to work with MS Office software, including Access.

In our international working environment, communication in English is becoming more common. For this position the required language level is B2. If you do not yet have this level, we will support you and you can attend courses at our language centre Wageningen in’to Language.

In addition to these first-rate employee benefits, you will of course receive a good salary. Depending on your experience, we offer a competitive gross between € 3,382 to € 5,057 per month for a full-time workweek of 38 hours, according to the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities (scale 8-9). We are looking for someone to work 20–24 hours per week, preferably spread over 4 or 5 days. Regarding your contract, we will initially offer a one-year contract, which – if possible within the (economic) organizational circumstances – can be extended based on good performance.
