Your job
As a Lecturer in Software Engineering and Information Technology at Wageningen University & Research, you will contribute to high-quality education in programming and data science, while supporting the coordination of BSc and MSc thesis processes. You will play an important role in educating the next generation of engineers and data scientists in an international and interdisciplinary environment.
You will contribute to the education within the Information Technology Group, which focuses on software engineering, data science, and AI-driven systems in application domains such as agri-food and environmental systems.
You will be responsible for teaching, coordinating student processes, and contributing to the continuous improvement of courses and educational programs.
Your duties and responsibilities include:
• Teaching and coordinating courses in programming and data science
• Supervising BSc and MSc thesis projects
• Acting as thesis coordinator, including student intake, matching, and process management
• Contributing to course development and innovation in education
• Supporting educational organization and quality assurance activities
Your team
You will work within the Information Technology Group, an international and collaborative team of researchers and educators focusing on AI, data science, and software engineering. The group is part of Wageningen University & Research and contributes to education and research at the intersection of IT and life sciences.
Your qualities
You are an enthusiastic educator with strong communication skills and a passion for teaching programming and data science. You enjoy working in an international academic environment and supporting students in their learning and thesis trajectory.
You also possess:
• A MSc or PhD degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related field
• Experience in teaching programming (preferably Python) and/or data science courses
• Affinity with student supervision and academic education
• Strong organizational skills, preferably with experience in coordination roles
• Excellent communication skills in English
In our international working environment there is an increasing amount of communication in English. For this position it is about language level C1.
Scale 7 up to and including 10
WUR welcomes applications from international candidates. Depending on your experience, we offer a competitive gross salary of between €3546 and €5538 for a full-time working week of 38 hours, in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreements for Dutch Universities (CAO-NU) (scale 10). As for your contract, we initially offer a one-year contract that can be extended - if possible within organizational circumstances - on good performance.
