As a Project Controller, you are part of the enthusiastic Finance & Control department within the Social Sciences Group. You are responsible for the administration and financial management of (subsidised) research projects. From budgeting to final reporting, you translate financial insights into clear information for research teams. In this role, you work closely with colleagues on various project control topics and safeguard processes to minimise risks.

The department offers a pleasant, driven, and open working atmosphere with attention to a healthy work–life balance. Besides the Project Control team, the F&C department also includes the Business Control team. As Project Controller, you will work for the Department of Social Sciences at Wageningen University.

What you can expect as a Project Controller

• Independent project control — You manage project control autonomously and are responsible for overall project governance.
• Financial point of contact — You act as the financial advisor for project leaders and chair groups, providing both solicited and unsolicited advice.
• Project results reporting — You determine project results for monthly and annual figures used for internal monitoring and external reporting (e.g., annual accounts).
• Risk management — You help identify and monitor project risks and contribute to internal control measures.
• Collaboration with colleagues — You work closely with colleagues in the back office and business control.

We ask for:

• A bachelor’s degree, preferably in business economics, accountancy, or a similar field.
• Strong financial and analytical skills.
• A customer‑ and quality‑oriented mindset.
• Good communication skills, enabling you to bridge the gap between project leaders and F&C.
• Strong command of Dutch and English.

You also recognise these qualities in yourself: you take initiative, act with integrity, work accurately, and are always looking for opportunities to further develop yourself.

In our international working environment there is an increasing amount of communication in English. For this position it is about language level B2.

We offer, depending on your experience, a competitive gross salary of between €3,482.- and €4,929.-for a full-time working week of 36 hours, in accordance with the CLA Wageningen Research (scale 9). Additionally, For this role a contract for32 hours can be discussed. We initially offer a one-year contract, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and depending on the organisation’s financial situation.
